The fleet is positioned northwest of a large windless zone 700 nautical miles (1,300 km) from the finish
The northern route, which is longer but allows for more pressure, is the one favored by Wings of the Ocean (Alexis Thomas and Pauline Courtois, 1st), Skipper Macif (Charlotte Yven and Hugo Dhallenne, 2nd) and Cap St Barth (Cindy Brin and Thomas André, 3rd)
The more direct but riskier route further south was preferred by their pursuers, including DEMAIN (Martin Le Pape and Mathilde Géron, 5th), Région Bretagne – CMB Espoir (Victor Le Pape and Estelle Greck, 6th) and DMG MORI Academy (Laure Galley and Kévin Bloch, 7th).
The front of the fleet being the first to hit the windless zone, their pursuers reduced the gap
Expected this Thursday, the first 15 could arrive within a 5-hour interval.
