Carlota becomes the 3rd registered for the 17th edition of the Transat Paprec!
At the age of 7, she started sailing on a small lake in the Bravo Valley near Mexico City. Connection with the elements, complexity, sensations, and a spirit of adventure: the ingredients were there and the passion began. 10 years later, Carlota became the Mexican Champion in 420. The following year, she settled in France to continue her studies and at the same time realized the fascination that France has for ocean racing. It was decided, she took her boots and her raincoat and set off to conquer the ports. At 22, she moved to Alicante to work for The Ocean Race in the Communications team. There, Carlota met someone who would change her life, and who gave her the idea of doing the Figaro, starting with the 2023 Tour Voile. Training and racing followed one after the other, passion became a vocation. Carlota christens her Figaro Ehecatl, the God of the Wind in Aztec mythology, and receives the call of the Atlantic. It's decided, Carlota Alonso will become the first Mexican to cross the Atlantic in a race!
"My ambition to participate in the Transat Paprec represents not only the greatest challenge of my life so far, allowing me to grow as a human being and as a skipper, but also the opportunity to become the first Mexican woman to achieve this feat. After the arrival of my first partner Liverpool-Mexico last May, I was able to participate in the Défi Paprec, which gave me great preparation and greater ambition for the Double-handed Transat."
