2023 edition

The countdown is on before the start of the Transat Paprec (formerly Transat en Double - Concarneau - Saint-Barthélemy, formerly Transat AG2R - La Mondiale), which will be given from Concarneau (Finistère) on April 30 at 1:02 pm. The village in Concarneau will open its doors on April 21, and the one in Saint-Barthélemy will be inaugurated on May 16. Eleven 100% mixed crews are expected for the 16th edition of the only double-handed transatlantic race of the Figaro BENETEAU circuit, whose course remains unchanged: 3,890 miles between Concarneau and Saint-Barthélemy.  

Mixed race, a first

Under the impetus of its Title Partner Paprec, its organizer OC Sport Pen Duick, and the support of the FFVoile and the Figaro Bénéteau Class, the Transat Paprec becomes the first transatlantic race in mixed doubles. The world of ocean racing is unanimous: this turn towards the feminization of our sport is necessary, as Alain Gautier, winner of the 1996 edition alongside Jimmy Pahun, testifies: "This passage of the Transat Paprec in mixed doubles is excellent news" or Karine Fauconnier, winner in 2000 in duet with Lionel Lemonchois, and who remains, to this day, the only woman to have won this event: "I'm enthusiastic about the idea of the mixed doubles, it's been years that I've been fighting for it!" For this great first, about fifteen crews are expected. "The field in 2023 will be more complex to compose than usual because of the mixed gender, but it's a great dynamic that will pay off over time," says Alain Gautier. His organizers and partners are convinced! 

The only transatlantic race on equal terms!

If the Figaro circuit's high standards no longer need to be demonstrated, the Transat Paprec, the only transatlantic race on its calendar, is no exception. The event, which is part of the French Elite Ocean Racing Championship, is one of the circuit's two flagship events along with the Solitaire du Figaro. This race has crowned the greatest sailors, from yesterday to today, from Jean Le Cam to Thomas Ruyant, recent winner of the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe in IMOCA, to name but a few. All of them testify to the demands of the event.
